When does Bruce Springsteen’s daughter Jessica compete in individual show jumping at the Tokyo Olympics?

She is the daughter of rock and roll royalty.
Now Jessica Springsteen, the daughter of legendary musician Bruce Springsteen and fellow E Street Band member Patti Scialfa, is aiming for Olympic gold.
Springsteen, who is ranked third-best show jumper in the United States and 27th in the world, is aiming for glory in Tokyo.
While his parents traveled the world, Springsteen, 29, grew up in New Jersey, a state honored in many of his father’s biggest hits.
The family own a 368-acre Stoen Hill farm in Colts Neck, where they had horses, goats, pigs, chickens and ostriches, and it’s where she says she fell in love with horses and learned to ride.
“I started riding when I was very little. My mom had always wanted to ride a bike, so when we moved to New Jersey she started taking classes, ”she said.
“Our house is right across from one of the best junior training barns – and I went straight there when I was a teenager.”
After graduating from Ranney School in Tinton Falls, New Jersey, she went to Duke University in North Carolina, where she earned a degree in psychology.
During her equestrian career, she earned nearly $ 2 million and her parents supported her in her work, helping to raise funds for the American equestrian team with concerts and auctions.
She was a substitute for the 2012 Olympics, but completely missed the 2016 games.
“I’ve been dreaming about it since I remember it,” she wrote on Instagram after being chosen for the 2020 team.
She is joined in the team by Kent Farrington, Laura Kraut and McLain Ward, and will ride her horse, the 12 year old Belgian Warmblood stallion Don Juan van de Donkhoeve,
Her famous dad won’t be able to watch his daughter in person, but he also doesn’t have a conflicting schedule as Springsteen on Broadway is on hiatus from July 17 to August 17.
Springsteen has been in a relationship with Italian rider Lorenzo de Luca since June 2018, after breaking up with Argentine polo player Nic Roldan.
She has represented the United States in international competitions on FEI Nations Cup teams, winning events in Florida in 2020, Ireland in 2014 and in the 2018 FEI Jumping Nations Cup Final in Barcelona, in Spain.
Springsteen and the US team have qualified to bring four riders and horses to Tokyo, but unlike previous Olympics, only three can compete in the individual and team events.
The individual show jumping takes place on August 3 and 4, and the team show jumping on August 6 and 7.
In each event, the horse and rider must cover a course of 12 to 14 obstacles varying in height from 4’7 to 5’4.
All of the team’s horses were transported to Japan on specially designed equestrian cargo planes.
Horses are placed in their individual stalls, which are then raised and loaded onto the plane, where grooms and vets watch and care for them during the flight.
The pilots at the controls of the planes make the take-off and landing more gradual to make the horses more comfortable.
