Watch a new surf-themed video for the remix of Paul McCartney’s song “Slidin ‘” by Radiohead’s Ed O’Brien
A new surf-themed clip for the recent remix of Paul McCartneythe 2020 song ‘Slidin’ by Radiohead‘s Ed o’brien debuted on McCartney’s official YouTube channel.
The clip was directed by the filmmaker Jack McCoy and is dedicated to the ocean charity Surfrider Foundation Australia and the organization’s work to raise awareness of the importance of protecting coasts from pollution and other environmental disturbances.
Video features exciting slow-motion footage of acclaimed free surfer Craig anderson and other surfers riding giant waves.
McCartney, who has previously collaborated with McCoy on other videos on ocean conservation themes, reached out to Jack to make a music video for âSlidin ‘,â a song from his 2020 solo album. McCartney III that he felt suitable for surf and ocean scenes.
âAs soon as I heard the song, I was like ‘Craig Anderson’,â McCoy explained. “I called on Craig’s friends to provide me with some amazing footage and did what became the official video for the track.”
He added, âWith Paul’s blessing, Craig and I have chosen to dedicate the video to Surfrider Foundation to help drum up drums with their ongoing fight for our coastline, especially the current fight for STOP PEP11, a proposal from offshore oil and gas drilling [Australiaâs New South Wales] littoral.”
McCoy ended up making another âSlidin ‘â video using O’Brien’s remix for the song, which Ed created for the recent McCartney III imagined compilation.
O’Brien noted that creating McCartney’s remix âwas a lot of fun,â recalling, âWinter was dark and a second lockdown was imminent, but working on this track with [producer] Paul Epworth was a moment of light.
McCoy is also working on a new video project with McCartney in support of Surfrider Foundation Australia that features nine world-class free surfers.
