Thom Yorke has fun in new video, spoofing Radiohead’s “embarrassing” TikTok videos
Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke made his first appearance on the band’s verified TikTok account. The video features Yorke and Radiohead Art Director Stanley Donwood discussing their sub-par TikTok analyzes.
Radiohead first launched their account in April and since then have continued to post videos featuring enigmatic band associate Chieftain Mews. Under the supervision of Mews, the account has gained over 100,000 subscribers and 600,000 likes thanks to their trippy black and white visuals supported by their songs in the background. However, in their most recent TikTok, Yorke and Donwood criticize Mews’ performance.
The funny video begins with Yorke and Donwood in a boardroom looking at their paper analyzes. “It’s a little embarrassing,” says Donwood. “I can’t even remember why we started it,” Yorke asks.
The two then call Mews into the room and the satirical rebuke begins. “Obviously you have to do something more, like the dog dance, or whatever it is,” Yorke says. “You promised us that you could give us a strong identity on TikTok, promote the music, bring us back to market. Instead, you just became a source of acute embarrassment.
