Phoenix FM: Everything changes for the station’s schedule
Julia Lacey and Patrick Sherring
By Paul Golder
After a year of almost complete stability, everything is changing again on the Phoenix FM grid.
Stewart Pink left his Friday afternoon slot because he now presents Drive Time five days a week – and that saw Patrick Sherring join the day shift after nearly 10 years on Friday nights.
Patrick’s popular Friday Night Extra has been airing on Phoenix FM every week since September 2011 and during that time he has featured hundreds of guests on the air.
As Patrick served as curate at Ingatestone and Fryerning for many years, he regularly presents faith-based articles and on-air guests which have pleased our listeners very well, whether particularly religious or not.
But he has a real ear and eye for what’s going on in our local community and also features news and perspectives from local charities and community groups set up to help those in need.
And, like all Phoenix FM presenters, he has diverse and eclectic musical tastes, playing everything from Dusty Springfield to David Bowie to Coldplay.
One of his last Friday night interviews was with Julia Lacey from Ascension Church with All Saints in Chelmsford. Julia has just been ordained a priest and spoke of her journey to this point in her life, including her very unusual training and her first year as a deacon in her church in Chelmsford.
You can listen to Patrick’s new show Friday at 1 p.m. and all of his interviews are online at phoenixfm.com.
