Penelope Isles, the project of UK-born siblings, co-songwriters and co-singers Lily and Jack Wolter, released their second album, Which Way To Happy a few weeks ago, and today , they announce their American tour in support of the album. .

The group’s return to the US will be the first stop in the Bella Union label’s 25th anniversary year, and will have Norwegian’s brilliant POM POKO as a special guest on all shows. Bella Union, home to Beach House, Flaming Lips, Father John Misty, Ezra Furman, Spiritualized, Mercury Rev, John Grant, Tim Burgess, Patti Smith and The Soundwalk Collective, Midlake, I Break Horses, Jonathan Wilson and more by the former Cocteau Twins Simon Raymonde who signed Penelope Isles after seeing them perform in his hometown of Brighton in England. Tickets will go on sale here at 11 a.m. EST – see below to find a show near you.

To celebrate the tour announcement, Penelope Isles shares a music video for “Have You Heard”. Written by Lily and inspired by her label mates The Flaming Lips, “Have You Heard” receives a great narrative and live performance video in black and white, directed by acclaimed director Jamie Thraves (Radiohead‘s “Just” and “The Scientist “from Coldplay). Take a look below!

Which Way To Happy-Penelope Isles second album, produced by Jack and mixed by Dave Fridmann, was released via Bella Union. Jack and Lily spent much of 2019 traveling through Europe and America with their group mates and, like many, felt it all fell apart when COVID-19 put an end to their upcoming plans. The duo, facing their own respective romantic heartaches and coping with the loss of two band members, were staying at a small cottage in Cornwall to begin work on the new album when the lockdown began.

Claustrophobia kicked in, existential anxiety over the pandemic permeated everything and emotions ran high. “We were there for about two or three months, eventually,” says Jack. “It was a very small cottage and we all got a little crazy, and we drank way too much, and it got a little out of hand. There were a lot of emotional evenings and accomplishments, which I think , is reflected in the songs. Recording new music has been an important part of the recovery process for all of us. “
The result is an intoxicating leap forward for the Brighton-based band, following the clever business card of their 2019 debut, Until the Tide Creeps In. Sometimes he faints, sometimes he flies away. Sometimes he says it’s good not to be good. Between fertile coastal metaphors and winged melodies, intimate confessions and expansive cosmic pop, he transforms the clichés of the “difficult second album” into something of glorious contrasts: a wave of intimate and sincere intimacies and an expansive experimental vision for the second. album.
