No Taylor Swift, no problem: Glastonbury 2022 headlining Paul McCartney, Kendrick Lamar

After a two-year hiatus due to the coronavirus outbreak, Sir Paul McCartney and Kendrick Lamar have been booked as headliners for Glastonbury 2022.
Sir Paul McCartney will join Friday night headliners Billie Eilish and Diana Ross, two of today’s best-known entertainers.
McCartney, who hasn’t played since 2004, will headline the Pyramid Stage on June 25. If the pandemic hadn’t happened, the legend would have been playing in 2020 by now. Taylor Swift was the same – she was invited and was thrilled to headline two years ago, but had to politely decline this year. Fortunately, McCartney found no reason to say no to the invitation. It seems, however, that organizer Emily Eavis was holding her breath and feeling genuinely relieved and happy when the Beatles legend finally said yes.
She told the BBC“When he finally confirmed, we were beyond [excited]. For us, having Paul McCartney is obviously a dream, a great moment in our history. It means the world will bring Paul McCartney to Glastonbury.”

This year’s headliner, Paul McCartney, will turn 80 when he takes the stage at this world-renowned event.
Meanwhile, Los Angeles-based rapper Kendrick Lamar will take the stage on Sunday, June 26 as the night’s main attraction.
Other performers include, but are not limited to, Olivia Rodrigo, Lorde, Megan The Stallion, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, Wolf Alice, Charli XCX, Crowded House, Doja Cat, and Haim.
Glastonbury 2022 is a four-day event, starting on Wednesday June 22 and ending on Sunday June 26 this year.
Usually, thousands of festival-goers will travel from the UK and Europe to see the festival’s top bands perform on the Pyramid Stage to sold-out crowds.

Taylor originally confirmed her appearance at the 2020 Glastonbury Festival in December 2019, tweeting: “I’m delighted to tell you I’ll be headlining Glastonbury on its 50th anniversary – See you there !” But the pandemic has certainly ruined the plans. She could also play this year if she just accepted, but fans should be disappointed for now.
A headlining spot at Glastonbury is only awarded to the biggest and best bands and artists. Past headliners have included Adele, Arctic Monkeys, Beyoncé, David Bowie, Foo Fighters, Jay-Z, Metallica. After two years of absence, the participation in this festival promises to be massive.
