McDonald’s personalized Happy Meals pay homage to 80s movies and TV

When I was a little boy I thought McNugget Friends were the best Happy Meal children’s toys ever. I wanted them all. Now I am an adult and I know they were the best. Or at least, these are the best children’s toys to appear alongside a little cheeseburger. The title of the best Happy Meal collectibles for adults now belongs to The toys area. The site has created a line of McDonald’s toys inspired by iconic 80s movies and TV shows. It includes custom boxes and numbers for Labyrinth, Top Gun, My friend Totoro, The breakfast club, and more.
The toys area
The toys area, who turned famous fictional homes into incredible Polly Pockets, continues to produce some of the best toys in pop culture. This time around, they’ve designed a full line of Happy Meal toys for adults based on popular 1980s properties. This includes David Bowie‘s Goblin King Jareth from Labyrinth. As well as Jack Torrance of Jack Nicholson of The brilliant.

The set also includes other iconic 80s movies and characters. There is a figure for Tom Cruise’s Maverick from Top Gun. A robed version of Matthew Broderick in Ferris Bueller’s day off. Rick Deckard of Harrison Ford from Blade runner. Molly Ringwald’s “Princess” Claire from The breakfast club. And the cutest piece in the collection, Totoro by My neighbor Totoro.

We would spend an absurd amount of money at McDonald’s just to find Totoro.

The kids who grew up on ’80s television weren’t forgotten, however. Mr. T’s BA Baracus from Team A appears in a box swinging his gold chains and mohawk. And Michael Knight by David Hasselhoff from Knight rider is on the case too.
As much as we would love to own all of these toys, the boxes are just as good. Generic names make them even better. They would look just as amazing on our shelves as their toys. (The path TheToyZone Photographing them in the correct setting makes the images worth viewing too.)

The box and toy combined would be one of the coolest collectible sets of all time if we could really buy them. And that’s not even true for McNugget Buddies, which came in regular Happy Meal boxes. I still want them all, however. The two sets.
