When it comes to being mistaken for Halle Bailey, it seems like it happens quite often with Halle Berry. While the two stars are separated by a generation, the spelling of their last names comes down to the difference of only a few letters.

The latest confusion between Les Halles came on Monday (December 27), when a Bailey’s fan accidentally tweeted a message to the former Oscar winner. “Can’t wait to see you under the sea,” the user wrote in response to a montage of Berry on numerous red carpets throughout the year, referencing singer Chloe x Halle’s upcoming role in as Ariel in Disney’s live-action remake of The little Mermaid.

However, Berry took the blunder in stride, commenting: “… bad Halle lol. Can’t wait to see her too!”

It was not the first time that the cat woman The star was approached on social media as the younger half of the R&B sister. When it was announced in July 2019 that Bailey would be transforming into Ariel, confused fans flooded Twitter after not reading the casting notice carefully enough. For her part, Berry couldn’t have been more thrilled at the time, writing to his counterpart, “In case you need a refresher… Halles does it. Congratulations @chloexhalle on this amazing opportunity, we can’t wait to see what you do! # LaPetiteSirène #HalleBailey. “

Naturally, the singer gushed in response, “It means the world. happy to share names with you … love you very much “with some crying emojis.

While The little Mermaid isn’t set to hit theaters until May 26, 2023, last week Bailey released a cover of the Radiohead classic “Creep” on TikTok and Twitter.
