George Strait and Billie Eilish to headline the 2021 ACL Festival

AUSTIN, Texas – It’s a moment that music fans have been waiting for. The Austin City Limits Music Festival announced this year’s headliners on Thursday including George Strait, Billie Eilish, Stevie Nicks, Miley Cyrus, DaBaby, Erykah Badu and Rüfüs Du Sol.
Other acts include Austin’s Black Pumas, Megan Thee Stallion, Modest Mouse, Doja Cat, and Greta Van Fleet.
The festival is held annually at Zilker Park in Austin and this year will be October 1-3 and 8-10.
Tickets are on sale from noon on Thursday.
Like so many big events, including South by Southwest, the 2020 ACL Festival has been a victim of the coronavirus pandemic.
However, Austin this week was demoted to Stage 2 of Austin Public Health’s risk-based COVID-19 guidelines, access to COVID-19 vaccines has improved dramatically in recent months and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in the United States relaxed its viral guidelines, saying that vaccinated people can safely assemble indoors and outdoors without wearing a mask in most settings.
The CDC still recommends wearing a mask in crowded environments, which would certainly include the ACL festival. Information regarding a mask policy and other social distancing measures have yet to be released.
Launched in 2002, ACL Festival is based on the KLRU / PBS musical program of the same name. It ran over a weekend until 2013, when it was extended to two weekends.
Past headliners include Metallica, The Rolling Stones, Radiohead, and many other big names.
