First video: exclusive clip of Aimee Mann performing “Living A Lie” in the series “From The Basement” by Nigel Godrich

In 2006, famous Radiohead producer Nigel Godrich started hosting his studio show, From the basement. The famous series features intimate performances by top talent and emerging artists. Designed in close collaboration with each artist, the episodes offer viewers a dynamic insight into the creative process that only a world-class producer could deliver. The series was relaunched on the platform on July 23, in partnership with The Coda Collection, a streaming service available through Amazon Prime.
Debuting with Radiohead‘s performance in 2011, backing their eighth studio album, The king of limbs, the streaming series promised eight additional episodes. Last Friday (July 30) a 2008 episode with Gnarls Barkley kicked off the series.
Today (August 6), The Coda Collection presents the 2012 episode of Aimee Mann. In an exclusive clip below, the ‘Til Tuesday’ singer teams up with The Shins’ James Mercer to perform her song from The Shins. Charmer album, released the same year. In appearance – available to watch in full here – Aimee offers incredible live performances of her songs “Save Me” and “Slip and Roll”
In the coming weeks, The Coda Collection will share a series of performances including The Raconteurs (2008), Iggy & The Stooges (2008), Red Hot Chili Peppers (2012), The White Stripes (2007), Moby (2012), Fleet Renards (2008) and My Morning Jacket (2009).
To mark the occasion, Godrich sat down with The Coda Collection’s Editorial Director, Greg Kot, for a rare interview to discuss the initial impetus for creating “From The Basement,” his approach to guest curation. , the experience of working with each artist to bring their visions. to life, and how the show’s influence has stood the test of time.
