City manager fired
Brooksville City Manager Mark Kutney was fired at the June 21, 2021 regular meeting. The layoff came after the water tower debacle. Mr Kutney gave a presentation on the sale, Kutney said the accidental sale took place after staff presented an inaccurate legal description of the property which was then forwarded by Kutney’s office to the city attorney. “That doesn’t mean I blame my staff,” Kutney told the council. “Ultimately, the manager is responsible and accountable for all actions taken by the City – I am responsible for the situation. Brooksville City Council voted 3-2 to terminate Mr. Kutney’s contract. Ron Snowberger, the city’s fire chief, was chosen as interim city manager and then hired on a permanent basis for the job.

Tampa: the city of fields
Hernando has his fair share of interesting criminals. Trey Cornwell made national news by robbing an ambulance from Oak Hill Hospital early on Easter Sunday morning. The crime wasn’t really the reason the story went viral, it was the combination of the crime and Trey Cornwell’s photo ID. Mr. Cornwell has a tattoo on his face that resembles David Bowie‘s Ziggy Stardust makeup.
