NEW YORK – Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band drummer Max Weinberg lends his name and famous talents to support the Israel Tennis and Education Centers Foundation (ITEC). Weinberg will perform at three fundraising events for ITEC titled “Playing for Peace: With Max Weinberg’s Jukebox”. The galas will take place on November 9 in Chicago, November 16 in New York and December 7 in Florida.

All three events will include alumni from 14 Israeli tennis education centers across Israel, sharing personal stories. Following a scholarship auction, Weinberg will be performing his Juke Box tour, where various items will be auctioned off as well as the opportunity to play the drums and sing along with him. Participants watch two screens featuring 200 songs – from musical legends such as Springsteen, The Beatles and The Rolling Stones.

Lauren Rabner, ITEC’s director of mission and special events, said a donor linked to the drummer’s agent suggested the organization contact Weinberg to participate.

“He agreed to participate,” she said.

“I am delighted to be able to participate in these several fantastic gala events both to raise funds and promote the ideals of Israeli tennis and education centers,” Weinberg said. Jerusalem post.

“The work they do is so impressive and their mission to bring together children of different backgrounds in Israel on neutral ground to engage with each other through sport is a refreshing endeavor in the world today.” hui. As we all know around the world, sports, as well as music, have the unparalleled ability to transcend language, political and religious barriers. ITEC organizes sports activities for Jewish, Arab, Druze and Bedouin children and in doing so absolutely brings powerful and engaging energy to the task of peaceful coexistence.

When Weinberg is not behind the drums of the E Street Band – a job he has performed almost continuously since 1974 – the proudly Jewish drummer spends his time living by the Jewish principle of tikkun olam, fixing the world. He has been successful in raising donations for local New Jersey, national and international organizations by playing music and donating memorabilia for charity auctions.

He grew up in a Jewish family in Newark, New Jersey, celebrated his bar mitzvah and confirmation, and was very involved in the life of the synagogue his grandfather helped found. Weinberg’s Russian great-great-grandfather immigrated to Mandatory Palestine at the end of the 19th century and is buried on the Mount of Olives.

Weinberg said he was proud to maintain his family’s connection to the Holy Land.

“I am proud and honored to bring the music to help ITEC’s mission. My great-great-grandfather, Lev Mindlin, buried in the Mount of Olives and longtime Talmudic scholar, would expect nothing less from me!
