Currently, Aguilera is promoting the first part of his new album, La Fuerza, a six-track EP, which debuted last week. This is his first album in Spanish since Mi Reflejo in 2000. Included on the EP are the songs “Pa Mis Muchachas», « Somos Nada » and his last track «Holy», a collaboration with Ozuna.
Aguilera said She Mexico that last year, while in Miami, she “fell in love with the music again,” that’s when the new album began to develop.
“There’s nothing like a sense of place and live music,” she said. “After so long in the industry, you forget the fun part and why you started. I got that feeling back.”
This sense of belonging, of course, includes drawing back to one’s roots. It’s something Aguilera said she’s wanted to do for a long time, but never had the chance until now. She added that the late singer Chavela Vargas was an inspiration to create the album, which will unfold as a trilogy throughout 2022.
“The passion with which [Vargas] sings is like from beyond,” says Christina Aguilera. “It’s very real, very powerful. The moments of her letting go really inspired me to have moments like that on this record.
