Bruce Springsteen’s daughter to compete in the Olympics
Jessica Springsteen has been named to the U.S. Olympic show jumping team, along with her horse Don Juan van de Donkhoeve, the United States Equestrian Federation has announced.
Jessica, 29, is one of the best jumpers in the country. She has represented the United States internationally on FEI Nations Cup teams, including winning teams in Palm Beach, Florida and Wellington, Florida in 2020; Dublin, Ireland in 2014; and the 2018 FEI Show Jumping Nations Cup Final in Barcelona, ââSpain.
Young Springsteen is a lifelong rider who has been on horseback for most of her life.
âI started riding when I was very little. My mom had always wanted to ride a bike, so when we moved to New Jersey she started taking classes, âshe previously told PEOPLE.
“Our house is right across from one of the best junior training barns – and I went straight there when I was a teenager.”
Jessica added, âI started competing and jumping and then I turned pro. It really happened quite naturally.
She first applied for the Olympics while in college, calling it “an incredible experience.”
âIt’s so much about timing and having the right horse at the right time, and having everything going well, so it’s definitely something I’m working on – and I’ll keep working until I ‘gets there. “
It will be the first time that Jessica has participated in the Olympic team. She was a backup rider for the 2012 U.S. Olympic team and was not shortlisted in 2016.
