Summer has arrived in Liverpool and there’s more to do than ever!

The sun is out(ish), we are out… summer is here, and there’s a lot going on in Liverpool, whether you’re looking for things to do with the kids or just somewhere to hang out, hopefully in good weather time.

The city has an incredible list of events and things to do over the next couple of months, so to make sure you don’t miss out on anything you fancy, here’s your ultimate guide to summer vacation in Liverpool…

Brick exhibit on endangered species at Knowsley Safari

A day at Knowsley Safari always feels like an adventure close to home, and all summer through September 4 it has the added attraction of Brick Live’s latest amazing exhibit – Endangered Species. Go on a walking safari and you’ll find 27 life-size animals, including a huge Bengal tiger, made from over a million bricks.

Outdoor entertainment at Liverpool ONE

There’s a lot going on at Liverpool ONE during the summer, and a lot of it is free. Tickle the Ivories Festival runs until September 11 with musicians playing on five colorful pianos dotted around the shops. Free ping pong is back outside Utility and the Club House, there’s a nature trail through Chavasse Park for ages 4-11, a heritage trail and a tour of the old wharf, plus great outdoor food and drink venues including The Bus Yard on Chavasse Parc which also has live music.

The Liverpool International Music Festival returns from July 29-31 with big names and emerging talent at around 25 different venues across the city. Artists include UB40 feat Ali Campbell at the Arena, De La Soul at the Exhibition Center Auditorium, the Zutons run a huge local lineup at Camp and Furnace, Heather Small is at the Arts Club and there are free events , concerts for under-18s and a free DJ set after Greg Wilson’s party at the Merchant.

Pride in Liverpool

Pride

At the Pier Head this year, Pride in Liverpool return on Saturday July 30 after a three-year absence. It will start as always with a fabulous March with Pride parade through the town center and then there will be a stage on the seafront with live music from 1pm, headlining Irish pop star Samantha Mumba and admission is free.

Brasilica Festival

Liverpool city center will bounce to the sound of samba beats, drummers and colorful dancers as Brazilica’s Carnival Night Parade returns on August 6. It starts in Abercromby Square at 7:30 p.m. and heads to Williamson Square, via Hope Street, Hardman Street, Bold Street and Church Street, followed by an after-party at District in the Baltic from 10 p.m. to 3 a.m.

Great Britain’s seaside at the Royal Albert Dock

We love being by the sea, and this summer we won’t have to travel far to sample a great British tradition. Albert Dock Liverpool is hanging up the bunting to celebrate the most beloved parts of Britain’s great coastline with seafood specialties and sunset cocktails, ice creams, pop-up events and selfies on giant deckchairs.

Canoe and boat trips – and bat and barn owl nights – at Martin Mere

The Martin Mere Wetland Center is a beautiful place to get away from the city and get closer to nature and all the varieties of birds and other creatures that call it home. Summer is the perfect time to explore on a canoe safari or guided boat trip, and special bat and barn owl nights take place in July and August.

Be arty at the Tate

Turner Prize

The big Turner Prize exhibition doesn’t arrive until October, but there’s still some fantastic art to see at Tate Liverpool. Radical Landscapes is open until 4 September with over 150 paintings, sculptures, photographs, artists’ films, and there’s also Tate Liverpool’s free collection – get there at 2.15pm and you can catch a daily free tour . Don’t forget the (very photo-worthy) gravity-defying Liverpool Mountain sculpture outside.

Human Being at Liverpool Cathedral

From 27 July to 30 August there will be a stunning new free exhibition at Liverpool Cathedral by sculptor and artist Peter Walker. Being Human, which, as its name suggests, explores what it means to be human, will showcase different works of art around the cathedral, including Connection, a two-meter tall sculpture of two giant hands inspired by the Creation of Adam by Michelangelo.

Open-air theater at the bombed-out church

In addition to outdoor food and drink at the garden bar and cafe, many events take place in the Bombed Out Church during the summer. They include an outdoor production of Shakespeare’s Love’s Labour’s Lost on July 28, A Most Wanted Man from August 23-25 ​​and straight from a season at the Edinburgh Fringe, I Wish My Life Were Like A Musical on August 31.

The Empire presents the phenomenal, multi-award-winning The Book of Mormon through August 13, followed by a youth theater production of Little Shop of Horrors August 26-27. Friday, July 29. Unity has the award-winning exploration of gay club culture No Place Like Home on July 28th.

Catch a show at the M&S Bank Arena in Liverpool

Christina Aguilera brings her greatest hits and that huge voice to Liverpool on Wednesday August 3rd as well as fun for the little ones with Paw Patrol Live at the Auditorium on July 31st and lots of laughs with Jimmy Carr on August 20th and 21st. You can see one of the best Beatles tributes in the world, The Mersey Beatles on July 30, George Ezra on September 13 and Peter Kaye on the decks for his Dance for Life on August 19 and 20.

This year’s Creamfields, over the August bank holiday weekend, as usual August 25-28, is going to be massive. Daresbury’s lineup includes Calvin Harris (last spotted on the Reds’ homecoming bus!), David Guetta, Fatboy Slim, Carl Cox, Jamie Jones and our very own CamelPhat. It’s the 25the anniversary and it sold out in record time so it’s going to be special.

Free picnics, zipline and sports fun at Speke Hall

Besides visiting and learning about the history of the Tudor Manor, there is plenty more to do at Speke Hall this summer. You can picnic on the lawn and explore the beautiful gardens, try ziplining in the wooded play area or take part in a program of free sporting activities funded by Sport England, through July and August, including shooting archery and horse racing. . There is also an outdoor production of Much Ado About Nothing on August 24.

Productions for the whole family at the new Shakespeare North Playhouse

Now that Shakespeare North in Prescot is finally open, summer is the perfect time to see a production there. There are outdoor shows in Ken Dodd’s performance garden, including The Liver Bird on July 23 and 24 and Twelfth Night on July 29 and 30, and Rubbish Romeo & Juliet on August 6 and 7.

A summer festival at Imagine That!

Imagine that! at Wavertree Tech Park is a great science and discovery attraction for children and it has a summer festival theme over the next two months. There will be tropical mud, paintable summer magnets, a visit to the beach via a giant digital screen and a dinosaur-themed outdoor area where little explorers can discover fossils.

Baltic Party

Baltic Triangle is hosting its own free mini music and arts festival on Saturday 20th August. There will be live music and visuals hosted by the Liverpool Psychedelic Society, plus a B-sides party at the Hobo Kiosk from 3-10 p.m., DJs outside with Coffee & Turntables, a fair to records and an exhibition at Baltic Creative/92 Degrees from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and you can picnic on Baltic Green with live music from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Outdoor musical at the Palm House

Open-air theater specialists Illyria bring a fun, flag-waving and memorable, song-filled version of Gilbert & Sullivan’s Pirates of Penzance comic opera to the Palm House in Sefton Park on Sunday July 31 from from 7 p.m. It is suitable for children aged 5 and over, you can bring your own mat and folding chairs and you can also bring a picnic. The Palm House also had A Midsummer Night’s Dream on Sunday August 7th.

International Beatles Week

Cavern City Tours is bringing back the International Beatle Week festival from August 24-30. Beatles events will take place at venues around town including the Phil, Alma de Cuba and the Marina Yacht Club, as well as live music on three stages in the Cavern Pub and Club, late-night parties at the Adelphi Wave Bar and the annual Beatles convention at the Adelphi on Sunday 28 August.

You can encounter epic monsters and see incredible Doctor Who costumes and props at the World Museum. Immerse yourself in the story of the ill-fated Titanic ship at the Maritime and delve into Liverpool’s rich cultural history at the Museum of Liverpool with Wondrous Place.
